John Maillard exhibited in galleries around New Zealand, USA, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom for over three decades.
He considers himself an experimenter with printmaking, drawing, interactive digital media and photography. He is primarily a landscape photographer.
John describes his work as "an experiment in synesthetic imagery through the camera, a story of the land."
The way the camera interacts with the environment is critical to the way we view the world, that response is and must be different depending on the camera and the photographer's interpretation of the moment. The camera does not and never has reproduced the world around us, merely a reproduction of its mechanical components.
